Preparing Your Files for Submission
It is critical to the success of your job that we work together
very closely before you submit your files for
print. With the countless prepress production
systems that are on the market today and with
as many different workflows that are employed
by printers, it is almost impossible to develop
universal submission standards.
Electronic Prepress Submission Specifications
[go]
At Century Publishing, we have
developed our Electronic
Prepress Submission Specifications in accordance
with our unique production and manufacturing
systems' requirements. Before you begin designing
your publication it is important that you understand
such things as the live copy area dimensions,
minimum bleed area, needed resolution of scans,
and acceptable file formats, be just to name
a few. We encourage you to review our specifications
or call your Sales Representative if you have
any questions.
Preflight Check List [go]
Even though we have specific
requirements, the basics of file submission
remain the same. All graphics on a page are
to have either live electronic elements or accompanying
copy submitted for them and hard copy proofs
of the latest file revision for each page is
to be submitted. Please pay close attention
to fonts. While missing fonts can be substituted
there are inherent dangers associated with this
practice such as font reflow. For this reason
we have a policy that we will not substitute
missing fonts. We encourage you to review the
Preflight
Check List before submitting your files.
Test File Check List [go]
For all new customers, we ask
that you submit test files for our review at
least 2 weeks prior to final submission. A set
of files that accurately represents the job
will be needed for the testing. It is good to
send at least 8 pages. This is a very important
step and can help avoid some of the pitfalls
of electronic pre-press production. Please complete
the Test
File Check List (PDF) and submit it with
your test disks.
